| KAIS (The Korean Association for Industrial Security) has been hosting the Industrial Security Paper Competition annually since 2013. It has been a domestic competition, but starting from last year, it was held as an international event to gather ideas from and facilitate exchange among researchers, practitioners, and students in the field of industrial security from around the world. [About the Competition] In today’s world, advanced technologies have emerged as core strategic assets that go beyond industrial competitiveness to directly impact national economic security. The ongoing digital transformation, accelerated by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is rapidly reshaping industrial environments. In this era of industrial innovation—driven by factory automation, smart manufacturing, and enhanced operational efficiency—Operational Technology (OT) is no longer merely a production tool, but a strategic element essential to national economic infrastructure. In particular, AI-integrated OT systems have become vital enablers of productivity and efficiency, while simultaneously presenting new vectors for security threats. Incidents such as hacking, data manipulation, and system paralysis are no longer isolated technical failures but potential disasters with the capacity to destabilize national industrial foundations. To address these emerging challenges, the 2025 International Industrial Security Paper Competition will be held under the theme: “AI-Based Operational Technology (OT) Security for Industrial Innovation and Protection in the Digital Transformation Era.” This competition seeks to gather innovative ideas and in-depth research that contribute to the establishment of robust and sustainable industrial security policies. Scholars, industry experts, and practitioners are invited to participate and advance the global discourse on securing critical technologies in the digital age.  1. Competition Themes ○ Designated Topic: AI-Based Operational Technology (OT) Security for Industrial Innovation and Security in the Era of Digital Transformation ○ Open topic: Industrial security law and policy, industrial security management, criminal psychology related to industrial security, industrial security technology, and other topics related to industrial security. ○ Original academic research specific to industrial security, differentiated from similar disciplines (applies to both designated and open topics) - Protection strategies for AI-based operational technologies - AI-based enhancement strategies for the protection of key national technologies (e.g., national core technologies, defense industry technologies, national strategic advanced technologies) - Strengthening supply chain security for economic security - Improving internal security policies and corporate culture to prevent leakage of core personnel - Safe AI usage practices to prevent technology leakage - Countermeasures against new types of technology leakage - Human resource development strategies for establishing a foundation for protecting key national technologies - Other fields related to industrial security policy and technology 2. Eligibility ○ Undergraduate and graduate students (domestic and international) capable of writing a paper related to industrial security (no restriction on major) ○ Industry professionals and researchers in fields related to industrial security ○ General public interested in industrial security 3. Schedule ○ Abstract Submission: May 15, 2025 (Thu) – June 30, 2025 (Mon) ○ Full Paper Submission: June 1, 2025 (Sun) – July 31, 2025 (Thu) ※ Full papers may be submitted even without prior abstract submission. ○ Document Review: Within 4 weeks after the final submission deadline (Expected in the 4th week of August) ○ Presentation Review: Within 4 weeks after document review (Expected in the 4th week of September) ※ Only papers that pass the document review are eligible for presentation review. (Failure to participate in the presentation review will be considered as withdrawal) ○ Awards Ceremony: October 17, 2025 (Scheduled) 4. Awards
○ Awards are categorized into Grand Prize (awarded by the head of the institution) / Gold Prize and below (awarded by the president of the society). ○ The number of winners and prize details may vary depending on the number of submissions and review results. ○ Papers awarded Silver Prize or higher will be considered for publication in the special issue of the academic journal Korean Journal of Industrial Security ※ Copyright policies for awarded works will be separately announced. Awards may be withheld if no papers meet the required standards. 5. Paper Format ○ Full-length paper: Within 20 pages ○ Short paper: Within 10 pages ○ Submission format: - It is required that all source citations in the paper follow current APA style as commonly used in the social sciences. The paper should be typed, double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font with one-inch margins, devoid of spelling and grammatical errors and written in the third person. - Submission forms, paper templates, and sample papers are available for download from the website. * Only papers that have not been published (or scheduled for publication) in domestic or international journals or recognized as achievements in academic conferences (according to relevant academic society practices) as of the submission deadline are eligible. 6.
